The main artery between Germany and the Czech Republic is the electrified double track mainline from Dresden/Germany to Decin(Czech Republic)and on to Prague. It is a wonderful line along the Elbe river and sees about 100 freight trains a day and many passenger trains including the Eurocity line from Berlin to Prague and Budapest.

March 25th2015 the electric power had to be turned off for a couple of hours on the German section because of maintenance. 
This resulted into rare train combinations with German diesels leading the Czech electric locos.
The night shot from Dresden Central shows the sleeper from Berlin to Budapest in Hungary. For the first time a former West German class 218 was used in commercial service on this former East German line to the border.

Great photos Chris. When I got to visit Germany in 2002 I took some photos looking way down from the Bastei of that line along the Elbe.

These photos hopefully demonstrate that the recent question asked by user Torisgold in his thread if there are also rail fans existing in Germany and neighboring countries was nonsense. The question showed to me just how little some people know about the world outside "their world".
