on the Simplon route

i still have hundreds of pictures to sort out  from my German and Swiss trip a few months ago..but

here are some from the Bern Lotschberg Simplon line...

at the southern end of the Simplon tunnel..... Iselle de Trasquera station

very isolated place   sees very few passengers   actually detrain here.. but does have much  through vehicular car traffic on transporter trains to Brig the other end of the tunnel

the memorial hidden away behind the station  few get to see this unless they actually see it on foot...

a simple translation ..

pusher helper locomotives gather from time to time here  to await a signal into the tunnel

Kandersteg , other auto trains terminate and commence here to Brig  

a local trip  shunt train  in the yard

and an ..interesting.typical swiss style . advertising billboard..''the secret of switzerland''

and no, its not Larry , Shemp and Moe...

Not HUPAC, but rather RAlpin AG. Ownership of the company is split between HUPAC AG, SBB Cargo AG, BLS Cargo AG, and Trenitalia SpA. RAlpin AG now operates all the Rolling Highway services in Switzerland, except for the Auto shuttle between Kanderstag and Brig, and the shuttle from Kanderstag and Iselle.
