for those who know it was 100 years ago the worst train disaster in the UK

   A Triple collision between 3 passenger trains just over the border of England and Scotland at Quintinshill   227  killed

my father had been in the army in Scotland  in the 1920s and had a book on the troops, whom were the most of the  casualties

on the YTBE there is a documentary called 'Rail Crash'  a film   made in 1972 that has an actual member of the railway who was on duty that day as a lamp boy aged 17

Wow, also the 100th anniversary of the eruption of Mt Lassen in the USA. Big news day for the media of the time!
