Another West Coast incident
Author: 86235

Yesterday evening a returning West Coast operated steam railtour (Paddington to Worcester Shrub Hill to Paddington) moved off from the station stop at Reading before the all clear had been given, and whilst some passengers were still de-training. It only moved a few feet but nevertheless the outcome was that the train was cancelled there and then, the crew were relieved and a diesel despatched from the base at Southall to pick up the train, including 4-6-0 61306. Passengers returned to Paddington on scheduled First Great Western services.

Given that West Coast are on probation after the March incident (which was potentially far more serious) this is not good and puts operations like the Jacobite in extreme jeopardy.

West Coast might as well pack it up. They're done.  Let's hope a "new" company can come in and pick up the pieces.

Just from what I can see the Jacobite has a pretty good safety record. The problems are in other parts of the system.
