I don't want to compete with the amazing pics that Nick (86235) has taken in Snowdonia and posted here. However I recently revisited North Wales after many years to see the remarkable achievement made by the reconstruction of the Weslh Highland Railway from Porthmadog to Caernarfon, as well as progress on the maturation of the Ffestiniog Railway. We were blessed with unusually good weather!

Just to start here's a brief video of a train coming down the Aberglaslyn Pass towards Porthmadog, lead by one of the SouthAfrican NG16 2-6-2+2-6-2 Beyer-Garrrat locos.

It is now several hours later and it still says "video encoding" indicating there must be a problem ....

And I am looking forward to seeing the footage!

Thanks John, It was of course running downhill, so the sewing machine effect is greater! One of the things I was struck by is how the two engines easily got into synch when under power, I don/t know whether this was just good luck or a natural phenomenon. Does anyone else know?
