Today I find myself in Krasnaya Polyana, site of the Alpine events in the 2014 Winter Olympic Games. These are a couple views of trains from my hotel room. The last is grab shot of some power in Adler.

interesting shots of a seldom seen area.Does the plumbing work yet at your hotel.That place got some pretty bad press during the games.

Neat, thanks! Loooks like there was lots of interestingf oldish and new Alstom and Siemens co-operation rolling stock around there.

Any more pics? Maybe of the locos in the picture above?

We have had a few minor problems with hotel plumbing, namely getting hot water, but it was promptly rectified. Other than that quite lovely. McKey, almost everything is new, from 2эс4к and эп20 if my memory is correct, both are less than ten years old, no old electrichkas to be found, only the new Siemens stuff.

Well, the Siemens "Lastochka" sets are also called "elektrichka".   I mean the (street) word DOES refer to a regional EMU train.....

Siemens (in Germany) just madse a deal for 30 years of maintenance for these elektrichka train sets, so you can count on them running smoothly and high availability for that time. To me this signifies operator's commitment to modernize one more part of railroading in Russia. Move this way has been quite decisive in the last 10 years or so.
