SBB is sending ETR 470 Pendolinos to scrap

SBB Pendolinos ETR 470-002, 003, and 005 have been towed from storage at Dottikon to the scrapyard at Kaiseraugst, Aarau east of Basel. These are 3 of the six sets that SBB received in the breakup of Cisalpino AG, the Joint Venture with Trenitalia. Currently two more sets are stored, and ETR 470-009 is leased to Trenitalia for service between Milano and Zürich. The newer ETR 610 Pendolinos have replaced SBB sets in services over the Gotthard.

Long live the troublesome ETR-470s! (Finnish VR still will retain 18 similar well working but very expensive to maintain EMUs)

Is there any shared and confirmed idea what _really_ happened, as there seems to be various stories around?
