Christmas Eve in London
Author: 86235

So far this winter has been rubbish, we've endured gale force winds, far too much rain and warm temperatures. So it hasn't really felt much like Christmas. But yesterday was Christmas Eve, and momentarily the weather perked up, we had some brightness and it did feel a tad cool, but not what you would call cold. And yes, it also rained but that blew through and the sun re-emerged.

Before we set off for the holiday I took a few pictures; the Bow to Calvert spoil train carrying earth removed from Crossrail climbing towards Gospel Oak at Kentish Town West, a Birmingham Lawley Street to Felixstowe intermodal and Grand Central's 14:48 London King's X to Bradford Interchange passing Alexandra Palace.

Happy Christmas and Best Wishes for 2016. Ho ho ho :-)

Weather has been unseasonably warm here in much of US including Kentucky where I live.  Dec 23, temps were in low 70s  F.  Yesterday, Dec 24, they were in the mid 60s F.  Today, they are in the upper 50s F.  Seasonal temps, highs in low 40s F, not in the 7 day forecast.
Merry Christmas.

Just arrived back in London (at 22:30 Boxing Day) and the external temperature is 14C. And 200 miles north the rains are causing untold misery in Lancashire and West Yorkshire - affecting both the East Lancashire and the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway heritage lines.

And to think that there are people who say that climate change doesn't exist!

Climates change constantly, the issue with the science of global warming is whether it is a natural phenomena or whether it is linked to man's activities, more specifically the burning of fossil fuels. So it comes down to whether you believe in insurance or not; if you do then we should moderate our behaviour (as the Paris summit agreed), if you do not then we carry on regardless. But how many of us take out house insuance, even though we have no intention of burning our home to the ground?
