The Sandy River & Rangeley Lakes comes to North Wales
Author: 86235

The Ffestiniog / Welsh Highland Railways Snowdonian tour of the two railways is to take place on Saturday 16th April, running from Porthmadog to Blaenau, back to Porthmadog and on to Caernarfon and back to Porthmadog. 80 miles of 2' gauge steam. Motive power is England 0-4-0STT Prince and Palmerston on the Ffestiniog and Hunslet 2-4-0TT Blanche and Linda over the WHR.

On the Friday before though is a new attraction, a ride with afternoon tea from Porthmadog over the WHR through the Aberglaslyn Pass to Beddgelert and Rhyd Ddu behind Darjeeling Himalaya no.19 travelling in style in Sandy River and Rangeley Lakes parlor car Carrabasset. No.19 is the genuine article, Carrabasset is a replica built by the Ffestiniog at Boston Lodge for Adrian Shooter, the former CEO of Chiltern Railways who also owns no.19. Bids to travel in the lap of luxury must be in excess of £500 ($700). Makes my season ticket to Three Bridges seem like a bargain :-)
