European Railroad Discussion > Gotthard Base Tunnel Celebration?

I can't find a wealth of information here in the USA on what is planned for the 3-4 June celebration of the new Gotthard Base Tunnel. Does anyone know if there will be historic locomotives displayed--maybe a kroc? Can anyone recommend a 3 Star hotel  near the events on either side of the mountains? Thanks in advance.

Not sure about any celebrations, but the Hotel Forni in Airolo (location of the south portal of the current Gottard Tunnel) I can highly recommend.

The hotel is across  the road from Airolo Station & the front rooms have direct views of passing trains.  Whilst the rooms are relatively basic, it has a great restaurant & a bar with outdoor seating to watch the trains go by!

It doesn't look like there will be any historic locomotives involved. A check of the SBB Historic website doesn't show any of theirs involved.
