ÖBB to take over some Night Trains from DB and CNL
Author: SOO6617

The ÖBB(Austrian Federal Railways) is in the process of taking over some Night Train services in adjacent countries such as Germany and Switzerland. The ÖBB Board of Directors has approved the purchase of 60 second-hand sleepers and couchettes, believed to be from DB, and also 15 car-transporter wagons. In addition 20 ÖBB passenger coaches, made surplus by the new Railjets, will be converted to a new configuration of Couchette. In 2015 ÖBB carried over 1 million passengers on night trains and these trains provided 17% of ÖBB's passenger revenues.

Unfortunately, the die is cast.

This likely is a short detour from the path that clearly lies ahead.  In the meantime, the time to ride the dwindling overnight services in Europe is now.

I don't think it helps that the schedule is horrible.

I looked at an overnight to Prague..THERE was not a problem, but nothing back. ANd it was a similar situation Germany-Paris. Better to wake up at 4 and take the TGV/ICE
