European Railroad Discussion > Finland: a new batch of FLIRT trains in HelsinkiDate: 08/28/16 09:33 Finland: a new batch of FLIRT trains in Helsinki Author: Stas This year we began to get a new batch of Sm5 FLIRT units. This number 43 I snapped in Kerava standing together with vanishing Sm2 type.
The main visual difference of the second batch of Sm5 is the number of seats, now 2+2 in the row, unlike 3+2 in the first batch of units. And a violet livery. Just to say, that Sm1 type is completely withdrawn now. If someone have photos of Sm1 you can make in memoriam' thread here. Are those four windows high up on the side of the Sm5 near the front of the train??? If so, I can't imagine any purpose other than letting more light in. Thanks Frank30 Date: 09/13/16 11:26 Re: Finland: a new batch of FLIRT trains in Helsinki Author: Stas No, those are not windows, but air-condition/climate control exhausts.
