Castle Cary, Somerset, England.
Author: Hartington

About 125 miles west of London on the line from Paddington to Exeter and beyond is my local station, Castle Cary.   The standard fare is GWR HSTs to and from London plus some regional locals from Bristol, Bath, Westbury to Weymouth on the south coast.   Just occasionally something a bit more interesting turns up and this week was one of the better ones.

We start at Castle Cary with a test train headed by 37608 and tailed by 37069 en route to Weymouth on wednesday 7th.

Friday morning the weather wasn't so good and I went one station up the line from Castle Cary (only a couple of miles) to Bruton to catch the DB Schenker Management Train which was doing a round roubin from Newport, Wales to Newton Abbott.   Led by 67029 with DVT 82146 on the rear.

Finally, this evening, Sunday we have 158953 leading a Weymouth to Bristol train into Castle Cary.   The track arrangement is a little unusual and the train is running in the "up" direction but it's on the down main!   Then 60163 Tornado en route from Kingswear to Bristol via Westbury with no diesel assistance in sight.

Thanks for posting.  Like all the photos especially those of the Class 37 units.
