Finse Station Camera

Back in operation at last. Out of service for several days, possibly because of the bad weather.

Today(Dec.13) the noon train from Oslo arrived about on time and the camera did not show any passengers getting
on or off the train. This seems to have been common the last two weeks. Many of the trains have had
numerous empty coaches. On some days the business class car was not operated. Today's 7 car train leaving at 4:24 pm
had numerous empty seats in all cars. NSB must be losing money on these runs in recent weeks. Heavy rain and
bad storms don't encourage travel. I hope things improve.

Sometimes people get off and on behind the camera so you have to wait to see if they trudge by.  Also, the Finse 1222 hotel is closed until Dec 29 when it begins it's winter season.  Traffic should pick up then.

The Bergen line is NSB best longdistance service. Over 1.2 million last year and this year they have over 5 percent increase

Norwegan State Television (nrk) rode the train from Bergen to Oslo and produced a program just over seven hours long showing the trip in real time. I don't know if the two DVD set has ever been released outside Norway but it is certainly interesting, you can in effect ride the train in real time. The only drawback beside it being released only in Norway is the dialogue is in Norwegan. They also did shorter programs on a route north out of Oslo to the end of that line and a similar format program aboard one of the ferries going up above the top of the country, almost to Russia.

If you have Netflix, the show is available for streaming under the heading of Slow TV. There is also a real time show of the Telemark Canal on board the Steamer Victoria. It was interesting to see how much of this trip is in tunnels.
