Railroaders' Nostalgia > AFT Maps Huntington to South CharlestonDate: 06/24/14 17:09 AFT Maps Huntington to South Charleston Author: BoilingMan June 25, 1976
This was a very short hop- only 50 miles. All C&O. No service stops. The press simply rode the whole run. At Charleston we sat and waited for the morning switch job to come on duty to spot the train. This site, like Dayton, is another one where my memory and photos show the train in a different spot than the AFT site plan. The red line is where the train actually sat. The yellow line is the planned spotting. The AFT plans call for holes to be cut in a fence line for the croweds to pass through- maybe the change was made because someone objected to having their fence cut? Site still exists. |
