Author: donnerpass Okay, I am not a professional railroader, so please forgive me for starting this thread on your board, but I am hoping that you professionals can tell us your experiences with heat kinks. Here are some of the questions I have. What do they look like? Does anyone have photos? How dangerous are they? Did they happen with stick rail or is it a ribbon rail phenom? What is done to try to keep them from happening? Do the heavier concrete ties reduce the probability? How do you fix a heat kink? Maybe railtiesballast could answer this last one. Also, please answer any questions I did not ask. Thanks in advance. I always enjoy reading your RR stories and look forward to some heat kink stories.
