MRL helper @ Livingston
Author: cascadehogger

December 1996, while working a helper, I stepped off the power to grab a shot.  We are sitting on the Yard Lead at the Hump Switch in Livingston waiting for a westbound.

After we coupled to the rear of the westbound, we departed Livingston. Yak at the throttle, I walked back to the rear motor to grab this shot.

Early 70's one of my first cab rides was on a BN helper from Livingston.  It was an Alco Century, when major repairs to the former SP&S fleet were done at Livingston, and I suppose this was a break in run before being returned to Vancouver, Wash.
I also got a cab ride in a Milwaukee Little Joe around the yards in Harlowton.  Those Montana folks were friendly!
On the same vacation the crew had me lining switches for an ex-NP RS3 still in NP colors at Wishram, Wash.  It's no wonder I became a conductor and switchman for BN.  Thanks guys!   BSB
