TBX'S on the ESPEE Western Division
Author: ValvePilot

These were often good jobs as they rarely operated both ways. When Oakland yard sent a train across the bay thru Redwood Jct
to Bayshore in San Fran more likely than not there would not be enough cars at Bayshore for the trip back to Oakland. So one of
the crew would drive his car to either terminal and wait for the arrival of his assigned run. A 2 member crew at times! That way we
all got to go home after a one way trip!

Was called TBX both ways until 1969. Westbound to Bayshore from Oakland was changed to TBO (trans-bay Oakland). TBX remained until 1973 when it was changed to DGOSF ( Drag Oakland-San Francisco). Bart became the carryall for crews when it came to San Francisco and Daly City

I came along later, in BART days. Train one way, then deadhead home on BART. Ninety-five cents fare. Anyone need a handful of BART tickets with five cents left on 'em?
