Sad Passing
Author: spnudge

"Red" Randall passed away in San Luis Obispo County at the age of 76. He was a Brakeman and Conductor for the SP then UP and hired out in 71. Worked a lot of runs with him and he was always "UP" and hade a joke for you. He was my rear man in the wreck in Guadalupe in 72.. In the investigation he was asked what he did when the air went in. His answer was, "I jumped into bed!"  His Local Chairman had to stop the investigation for a minute and remind Red, it was a tool box cover, not a bed. in the caboose.

Rip Red.

I heard of Reds passing last week.  He was always a character to work with.  I worked with him and Hadley on the Surf Turn..  We nicknamed Red the Pin  .. always needed a pin whether or not the slack was bunches or strecthed !!   Miss his Boston accent and dry sense of humor..  RIP Red
