RBBB RED UNIT moves Stocks & Flats -- Apr. 3
Author: rbx551985

RINGLING BROS. and BARNUM & BAILEY
Official Website: http://www.ringling.com

Monday, April 3: RED UNIT moves its Stock cars (animals) and Flatcars (equipment) from Benning Yard [Washington DC] over to Fairfax VA, on Norfolk Southern. The coaches are already at Van Dorn in northern Virginia, where they stay during the 3-weeks the show plays this major metropolitan region. The most likely move-time will be AFTER ALL of the Virginia Railway Express morning commuter trains have arrived in DC, clearing the way for Jacksonville FL to open up the lines to [ALL freight], and other traffic (like RBBB). THE RED UNIT will play Fairfax VA through April 16, after which their 56-car train will move again on April 17 to Charleston WV (perhaps, again, via the former Virginian Rwy/Mullins/Deepwater -- HOWEVER, that is not confirmed and, as always, is always subject to change without notice).

Meanwhile, the Blue Unit continues to play Madison Square Garden through April 17, after which an April 18 train-run is seheduled to take their 59-car 'railroad show' south to Philadelphia PA.

Dave: GREAT shots, as usual! About that first shot: imagine what this train looks like when it's entire (currently) 56-car consist assembled, and is traveling at NIGHT? Not only the spot lights that liven up the surrounding countryside, but also the Scotch-Glo relflectorized banners and globe logos, as well as the white FRA-required strips along the base of the cars -- as seen in the first shot... THAT is impressive, and illuminates ANY camera, still or motion, while the train is passing by in the middle of the night. All one needs is a light to illuminate the dark FLATCARS that roll behind the coaches, as the only "light" on those would be any reflectorized logos and/or striping on the wagons and vehicles atop the flats, or if any flatcars have the new FRA-required Scotch-Glo strips.

Please keep you photos coming!

Thanks. The strips are new, never seen them before, and actually I would rather not have them, if I have to use on-camera flash. :-(
