What railroads owned or own RDC's Besides B&O Pennsy reading seashore lines Bellfonte Central and NYC?

Does anybody have pics of the Ones in Alaska?

Lots . . . Santa Fe, Rock Island, Boston & Maine, New Haven, Chesapeake & Ohio, Canadian Pacific, Canadian National, Quebec North Shore & Labrador, VIA, Chicago & North Western, Jersey Central, Lehigh Valley, Reading . . .

I can't think of a single road in the South, though (other than C&O).

Plus the Friendly Southern Pacific; first on the Oakland - Sacramento locals and then moved over to the NWP.

I also think that the C&EI owned one as well.

MARC and SEPTA also had second hand RDC's. SEPTA inherited RDG RDC's and MARC had what was left over from B&O. The MASS transit in Boston grabbed RDC's from all over, if I remember correctly. Maybe even some from SEPTA and MARC? Anyone in Boston who can confirm?

Also worth noting- several of Via's RDCs now operate in Cuba for the national railway system there...

Don't forget two of the most obscure RDC owners: Duluth, South Shore & Atlantic (one RDC-1) and the Minneapolis & St. Louis, who owned two RDC-4s.

RDC-4s are pretty rare birds as a group, being shorter and designed for baggage and mail only (*no* passenger compartment), but M&StL's were unique in that they had a VERY small passenger compartment, seating something like 14-16 people tops.

The M&StL also went to the trouble of naming their RDC's Gopher and Hawkeye, after the mascots of the universities of Minnesota and Iowa, respectively. Kinda surprising, considering they did not name the streamlined Budd coaches they bought to run behind the old GE doodlebugs.

None of this equipment stayed long enough to make the C&NW merger: The RDCs were sold to the C&O. the Budd coaches were sold to the Rock Island, where two of them lasted to the end of intercity passenger service (1978). One survives to this day as the private car UTAH in the Ski Train.

The DSS&A car went to CP after passenger service ended, before the merger with Soo Line.

What happened to the MBTA "Boise Budds" sidelined in 2004?

4 still at MNCR in scrapline and 4 still in Vermont from defunct Vermont Flyer project.
rest went to Grand Canyon Railroad.

And it was the B&M who at one time owned the most Budds.

Any recommended books on the subject? I have heard there was at least one hardcover book and a softcover or two done but have no idea of the titles or the authors to search for them. Thank you.

Best book about RDC's is Chuck Crouse's Budd car the RDC story ISBN 0-9612814-2-1 by the weekend chief publishing company.
softcover and kind of hard to get but worth to hunt for.

Trinity Railway Express has a number of secondhand RDC's that they run between Dallas and Fort Worth in Texas.
