Date: 10/10/07 12:45 Re: CSX Derailment/Fire - Painesville, Ohio Author: halfmoonharold No wrecks on Conrail?!? They put 'em on the ground as much as anyone in the '90's. I recall mainline wrecks at Huron, Fairlane, Elyria, and Willoughby, just off the top of my head.
Date: 10/10/07 12:51 Re: CSX Derailment/Fire - Painesville, Ohio Author: kntower You guys are absolutely 100% right. Conrail never wrecked any trains. NS never wrecks any trains. Only CSX does.
Chase, MD, never happened. Graniteville, SC, never happened. I have family that lives trackside just a few miles east of the derailment site in Painesville. My concern and interest was that this didn't happen in their backyard or that of anyone else, and that there were no injuries or fatalities. Thankfully it appears that nobody was hurt or killed, and nobody's homes or businesses were destroyed. Let the investigators do their work now and determine a cause, be it CSX's fault or anyone else's. Date: 10/10/07 13:15 Re: CSX Derailment/Fire - Painesville, Ohio Author: BothanSpy Everyone wrecks trains, its a ugly fact of the industry.
It just seems that CSX has had more then there share in the past year. Date: 10/10/07 13:20 Re: CSX Derailment/Fire - Painesville, Ohio Author: csxdispatcher Yep, Conrail never derailed anything. Please.
Date: 10/10/07 13:31 Re: CSX Derailment/Fire - Painesville, Ohio Author: mc5725 Looks like they just used the pictures they got at Oneida... Anyone know what symbol this train was?

Passengers for Cleveland will be bussed to Erie and Elyra. On TV it shows a lot of equipment burning and cars across tracks, so its a big one, that will take a while. Date: 10/10/07 15:14 Re: CSX Derailment/Fire - Painesville, Ohio Author: HB90MACH Reroutes? If any are done. Possible routes?

IIRC, fatalities involved. Well, if we're listing notorious Conrail wrecks, there was also the fatal rear-ender near Bryan, Ohio in early 1999 and the head-on at Thompsontown, Pa., in January 1988. I covered the Bryan one and remember Thompsontown because I heard about it from a Conrail crew in upstate New York.
