Minor Derailment in Hamler, OH

Not sure what happened. Maybe the I&O was shoving in the NW Transfer? I didn't think they used that track too much.

Being that close I had to swing by the park...

Just came through there, couldn't get close enough to take pictures, the crossing at 18 is now cleared and they are rerailing the hopper car.

A few years ago they went on the ground on the SE connector and I&O used the track shown to get two units (SD40-2/GP50) onto the CSX where they picked up a pilot and went to East Hamler and came in on the other end of their mess. I couldn't believe the SD40-2 stayed on those rails.

East siding at Hamler was full. So the I&O shoved around the northwest transfer and went on the ground. The I&O is to only use the east siding for interchange with CSX. The west siding does not belong to CSX or the I&O.

Gerald Grain Center (local grain elevator in town) has a lease on the siding and only trains going to them to be loaded are to use the west siding. Six axle power on a very tight curve with bad tie conditions is a derailment waiting to happen.

I thought the NW transfer was just a stub track now!

Have the cars been re-railed?

I don't see any power derailed in the pictures, did they flipped over in the ditch? or in the weeds? Looks to me to be a drainage and tie issue to me.

When I was there there was no power around. (other than the trackmobiles)

Did you check the sidings S and N of town? Didn't you see me?

Good track or bad, at least the I&O is consistent....

the local probably took the engine back to delta after they put the rest of the train in the siding.

The grain elevator doesn't own the siding. CSX owns it. I&O owns the track from the switch on the I&O main to the switch in the siding.
