Passing of George Michener Hart
Author: aottinger

Its my understanding that railroader George Hart passed away last Thursday after prolonged health issues. He was 89 years old.

Mr. Hart is probably one of the more recognized names in the railroading scene in Eastern Pa. Responsible for steam-operated fan trips on the Ma & Pa Railroad out of York, PA and to other destinations in south central PA. Mr Hart's "RailTours" organization was responisble for operating trains out of the old CNJ station in Jim Thorpe; he also ran the Stewartstown Railroad. Mr. Hart also deserves a great deal of credit in helping to create the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg.

Funeral services are being held today. http://www.legacy.com/mcall/Obituaries.asp?Page=LifeStory&PersonID=107849347

I wish I had a chance to have gotten to know Mr Hart.

Here's a bit of information for those who know the name
but not the man.

Rest in Peace.
