Eastern Railroad Discussion > ex Conrail SD50`s for cab-signals

Seems like NS is using the ex CR SD50`s for cab-signal leaders for the past 2 months on trains that go over the ex PRR Middle Division.
I`ve shot the 5400 and 5433 a couple of times and have seen others in the dark. Nice to see these leading foreign power.
Are the SD50`s headed for a rebuild program in the future?

5400 on NS 20G on 5-6-08
5408 on NS 20G on 6-2-08
5400 again on 68Q this afternoon

Cleveland has become the designated spot of cab signal leader addition. The remaining 5400's will be used for the purpose.

The SD50's will be going through the SD40E capital rebuild program at Altoona. For more info:

Thanks. That's what the webcam shows. Hadn't thought of that.

I saw it in Lebanon. Not a lot of westbounds running before the thunderstorms arrived at 1700. Very dramatic cloud formations near Lewistown on the way home....
