Date: 02/22/09 19:15 Re: News Publications on Short Lines Author: EMDSW-1 There is a monthly publication called "The Short Line" put out by the Pioneer Railcorp folks. I stopped subscribing because it was mostly out of date stuff and most recently was just a boring bunch of stuff about Guy Brenkman's Pioneer Rail operations.
I haven't seen an issue for a year or so...maybe they got their act together by now or they're gone for good. Date: 02/23/09 08:18 Re: News Publications on Short Lines Author: mderrick The Short Line is published bi-monthly, and comes out quite reliably for a small publication. The quality is a lot better than earlier issues I saw around 2000, which literally looked like bad photocopied photos in some instances. 20 pages, color cover, B&W inside.
Content-wise, a lot is from STB filings and news stories, and like any other magazine, is only as good as what people contribute. I generally try to write a feature for them yearly. They have a website at http://www.the-short-line.com/ Mike Derrick http://www.shortlinesusa.com |
