DTTX rebuilds
Author: Jimmie

I have pictures of DTTX 5-unit 40-ft well cars with smooth sides, and DTTX cars with welds running from bottom to top at each end of the well. Is this weld an indicator of the 48-ft well cars that TTX rebuilt into 40-ft cars?

Here is a picture of DTTX 742224 A unit showing the weld I'm talking about on the left side of the picture.

Thanks for the help.

Yes...the heavy vertical weld beads on the ends are one giveaway that it's a Gunderson Maxi-Stack III rebuilt into the "Shorty-40" configuration.
