Norfolk Southern - East - West, Ft. Wayne, Ind - Bellevue, Oh
main line is to the left and CSX - North - South - Toledo - Columbus Ohio
main line is to the right. The diamond is behind the building that was torn down.

Behind where I am standing is CSX - East - West - Willard, Oh - Chicago, Ill. main line.

The rail park will be open Spring 2011.

Here's to continued progress, positive impacts on the community of Fostoria and the long term survival of the rail park. There are a lot of challenges ahead still, but this progress is very good to see.

Good, than we'll have some "normal" railfans there too. LOL

OK, just kidding. Psychologist's question: "What is normal behavior?"

Not sure the exact date but was told back in the early 1880's.

The NKP - Nickel Plate railroad was built about the same time,
it then became N&W - Norfolk and Western October 16, 1964.

N&W became part of the Norfolk Southern June 1, 1982

The Fostoria Union stock yards was built in the early 1880's.
It was located just to the southwest a few hundred
feet of the pork packing building.

December 17, 2009 New info

Ira Cadwallader Brick and Tile factory was first built in 1896,
then it became the Pork Packing building around 1914.

The Fostoria Union Stock yards was built about the same time

Have they given any thought to salvaging some of those bricks for walkways in the park? Or will they all just go to a landfill somewhere?

Thanks for keeping us up to date on this, Ed. Is it correct that a depot is going to be moved to the park? Which one?

The city has saved a truck load,
for future possibilities but I don't
think they will be used for sidewalks.

The T&OC depot - Toledo and Ohio Central
later NYC New York Central will be moved
to the rail park when funds become available.

One definition of "Normal People" I remember is "Normal people are people you do not know very well."
