NS 955..."Pretty as a Picture(s)"
Author: cinder

Two views of NS 955, taken a year apart as the VIP train deadheads back from the Masters golf tournament.

4/10/07: "AFTERNOON DELIGHT" NS 955, chased but never subdued, slips past the ruins of Chapman's Mill in Thoroughfare Gap, VA, about mp 14 on the NS B-Line at 3:20pm this afternoon. The mill was built in 1742 and the Manassas Gap Railroad was finished in 1852. Later a Southern RY branchline, it is fitting that 955 is led by a venerable F unit with a Southern look to the livery. Gosh, what a wonderful sound that lead unit made passing through the gap.

4/15/08: "PRETTY iN PINK" Spring has begun to paint the cut slopes of the NS B-Line at Linden, VA on April 15 as NS 955 ambles back to PA after serving its annual duty as a VIP party train at the Masters golf tournament.

I agree, number one is a stunner. Would not have been near the photo in the height of the foliage time of the year.
