NS Reading Line/New Locomotives

I know this has been discussed previously but what are the numbers for the new locomotives being delivered? Also - I have heard recently train 24K and 21J. They are not regulars (as far as I know) through Abrams. Any one know where these trains originate and what they haul?

They replaced the 20 and 21E mail trains to and from Morrisville, PA.

The 24K runs from Rutherford to Morrisville daily in the early morning. 20E now runs to Croxton instead of Morrisville. When 20E comes into Rutherford, the rear end of the train becomes 24K. 24K also picks up blocks of cars from other trains that are headed for Morrisville. 21J runs from Rutherford to Chicago every day, but has been originating in Morrisville on Monday to relieve traffic (21E doesn't run on Mondays). They haul intermodal traffic, mainly TOFC.

21E still runs Tu-Sa in the morning. 21J runs on Mo.

The new ES44AC units are in the NS 8024-8066 series. So far, four of the units (8024-8027) have been delivered.

Chris, will those be used system-wide, or confined to coal service in the East?

With their heavy weight and AC traction, look for them to be used primarily in coal train service displacing DC traction units.
