Eastern Railroad Discussion > Help indentifying an "unknown locomotive"Date: 01/09/11 04:35 Help indentifying an "unknown locomotive" Author: bandob A few years ago, 2007 I believe, I was at the rear of a VRE cab control car on a trip to Manassas, VA and saw this unknown unit in all black paint. I doubt it is part of any "black helicopter" group, but wondered if any TO members could identify it and its use.
Thanks for any help. B&OB Date: 01/09/11 04:41 Re: Help indentifying an "unknown locomotive" Author: redneckrailfan it is definitely a former ATSF CF7. That said, I do not know who the current owner or operator is.

It is former ATSF CF7 2432, and is out of service and for sale through Ozark Mountain Railcar. Virginia Paving began using a Trackmobile to switch its facility a little over a year ago. When I first moved to the area, this unit used to be dark green with a white line down the long hood. A few years ago, it got the solid black treatment.
