LSRC (exD&M) Midnight Madness in East Tawas

The weeknight trains of the LSRC are still coming through Tawas at the midnight hour.
Here are a few photos of the meeting this past Monday, Oct 10/11 under a near full moon and sixty degree weather.

Photo 1: Pumpkins near MP 59 seem to turn into trains around midnight. :)

Photo 2: SouthBound Freight trundles past Newman Street crossing approaching MP 59 marker just before 1:00 AM.

Photo 3: Close up of #1164 heading south through East Tawas.

Since the Train action is almost always at night here are some daytime views around the area.

Picture 7: MP 59 in the daylight. Speed restriction posted north of this point.

Picture 8: Highrail inspection vehicle comes down the line around noon each weekday.

Picture 9: A lone gon occupies the stub siding just below MP 59...all that is left of the old D&M yard and shop trackage removed when the Wal-Mart was put up.

Photo 10: Looking past the stub siding into the curve that takes the main line behind the Wal-Mart store. The old main, yard, and round house was just to the left of the curve in this south looking view. The building just over the top of the gon is Tim Horton's.

Photo 11: Inside the ICHM garage is an original D&M handcar. The Museum offers several displays of railroading over the years.
Outside on the drive is a baggage cart from the D&M and the Museum's parade float.
