Lady Bird Johnson Special on the Atlantic Coast Line in

The Town of Ahoskie and nearby communities in northeastern NC turned out to see Lady Bird Johnson, wife of LBJ, when she rode into town on a campaign train on the Atlantic Coast Line on October 6, 1964. I believe that is Mrs. Johnson in the black and white outfit on the car's platform. Note the man on the rooftop. The East Carolina College band (now ECU) was there to provide music. I think I took these pics as a sixteen year old at the time.

I don't have pics of the locomotives, but there were some attractive women there.

The guy on the grade crossing signal had a good perch. Wonder if that would happen after September 2001 - I doubt it. Thanks for sharing your encounter with Lady Bird and the band girls.

Love the hair on the blond. It looks like the 'That Girl' flip Marlo Thomas used to have. Wonder if she still looks like that?
