NS Symbol Help
Author: zchcsse

I saw some trains on my recent Ohio trip that I don't have origin/destination info for, and was wondering if you could fill in the blanks if you know. Most of these are unit trains, so they may be difficult, but I'll try anyways.

27J Seen in Bellevue
186 Seen both in Marion and using the Oak Harbor Connection
260 Roadrailer seen in Fostoria and Bellevue
60Z Empty gons seen in Sandusky coming north out of the yard and turning east onto the ex-CR
60D Ethanol train seen in Fostoria
62Q Sand train seen going east at Berea with UP power
542 Loaded WEPX coal train westbound at Sandusky
854 Seen at Bellevue
856 Seen at Fostoria
861 Seen at Oak Harbor
864 Seen at Marion
868 Seen at Marion
883 Seen at Fostoria
51R Grain train seen at Bellevue
51V Seen at Huron
55Z Seen at Marion and Fostoria

I caught 27J in Austell, GA a couple years ago...most likely originated at Atlanta's Inman Yard. Not sure of its northern terminus.

186 Chicago, IL (BRC) - Linwood, NC
260 Kansas City, MO - Detroit, MI. Not sure if Fostoria/Bellevue is its usual routing. Detour perhaps?

Thanks Andrew. I think the 260 now terminates at Sandusky. I saw it in Fostoria one day (thought I might have misheard the symbol, but the 262 ran right behind it that day), and the next day I saw it at Bellevue. It didn't turn towards Toledo, but went up towards Sandusky.

260 should terminate at Sandusky, as the triple crown roadrailer facility is there. I took a behind the scenes tour with a mechanical man some years ago knowing the history of the area, and seeing the coal docks. Seeing the coal dock up close was a dream come true for me.

I believe 864 goes to Detroit Edison/River Rouge, Mich., and that 868 is unit coke for one of the Gary, IN-area steel mills.

Thanks! That 864 did have DEEX hoppers, so that would seem right.
