Also good to see the heritage units (at least one of them) earning their keep again and not just sitting around looking pretty! Date: 07/06/12 20:25 Re: Virginia Museum special move today Author: photoguycookin its also great to see NS taking part in a lot of VMT museum things past couple years
Date: 07/07/12 05:12 Re: Virginia Museum special move today Author: santafe199 I had to Google "Virgina Museum" to find out that it's in Roanoke, but would you mind informing me where these 2 shots were taken? Some of us hicks west of the Mississippi are not too terribly familiar with eastern turf...
Nice catch & I do appreciate sharing them. I caught the 1776 in Argentine Yard in January of 1977. I guess I'll have to dig those slides out & get 'em scanned... Thanks, Lance Garrels Manhattan, KS Date: 07/07/12 06:54 Re: Virginia Museum special move today Author: SI-Tower santafe199 Wrote:

The top picture shows the former N&W headquarters which (to my understanding) are now condos. Hotel Roanoke is behind that building on the left. The other picture is looking the other direction (west). I hope this helps. John Date: 07/07/12 10:09 Re: Virginia Museum special move today Author: jkchubbes Is this 1776 operational? If so does it have the original prime mover?

Perhaps the train is considered within yard limits where it's operating in that shot. Would that change the requirements?

I read the captions as a departure rather the an arrival. That clears up things nicely! Lance Date: 07/09/12 20:11 Re: Virginia Museum special move today Author: hdralleiii MarcelineSub Wrote:

In these shots, it was coupled to the Heritage units and Exhibit car at Shaffers Crossing and brought downtown for NS to shoot some photos. The equipment was all part of the 1776 dedication this past Saturday at VMT. Hank |
