HA, yea I guess you are right. I didn't think about HOW it read when I posted the heading

Fuel tank under trailer, so it is a reefer. I would hate to see what happened to that Carrier AC on the front of the trailer. ;-)

Not your fault you just posted the exact headline. I too thought there was a pile up of trains, cars and train cars when I saw your thread. Turns out it was just some dumbass 28 year old trucker and a careless reporter who either just didn't think about how he worded his headline or went for the way too common aspect of trying to sensationalize the news. I'm guessing the latter as the dying medium of the newspaper is getting ever more desperate to attract readers.

Reporters don't write their own headlines.

If you drive your 12FT semi through a 10FT bridge then yes, you are.

Here's a website from Durham, NC devoted exclusively to videos of such accidents at a single overpass in that city:

I noticed that too. Never seen one with 12' clearance, usually 13'6". More like the tractor needs 12' clearance.

Salem?

I'm guessing Virginia, due to the proximity of Petersburg. But is it?

(I've ruled out Michigan, Massachusetts, and Florida.)

With the incident having a Columbiana dateline, my supposition is that this occurred in eastern Ohio.

Edited to add: The bottom of the page also shows an Ohio address for the newspaper.

Thanks, David!

(I know you know who writes the headlines...I remember the derision one intern got for a front-page headline that somehow made it through to print at our paper--he must have been the proofreader as well--from the newsroom to some of us in the composing room.)
