Circus Train at Norpaul Yard Facility, Chicago Area Performances

Thanks to a fellow railfan provider from “The Network” we have the following information to share.

If one accesses the “IHB Safe Start Awareness Newsletter – First Quarter 2012” – There is an interesting two (2) page article on why the Field Transportation Office selected this facility for its stay in the Chicago Area.
Previous to this move, the CT’s were stored at the Galewood Yard Facility (Ref.: Harold A. Driscoll Site Photos).

“The Traveling Archives of 2011 (NORPAUL)”: Indiana Harbor Belt (IHB)
In 2011 Photos opportunities were readily available of the tie-down site and were taken by fellow railfans from the Rose Street Bridge and posted on Internet Sites. Photo(s) picture Coaches, Stocks, COFC’s & Flats – behind All Metal Recycling, corner of Armitage Avenue. Wagons and equipment were unloaded across from the Coaches and transported to the Allstate Arena and United Center via private carrier.

The BUCT will be at the IHB Facility for approximately a month while in the Chicago area.
Would like to see Photos on TO.COM of the CT at Norpaul.
Appreciate any updates or corrections to our data source’s.
Enjoy. All for now. bcd9 ∑:=)

HIGH PRAISE for Indiana Harbor Belt RR from officials at Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey! This newsletter ["Indiana Harbor Belt RR - SAFE START Awareness Newsletter/First Quarter 2012"] was published during early 2012 and is a case-in-point of how some years finds that it's not so easy to find a place to "park" a mile-long Circus Train!

HERE IS THE LINK (discussed in BlackCat9's post, above):
http://www.ihbrr.com/press%20release/SAFE1202.pdf

BRIEF TEXT EXCERPT:
"....Ringling has a century-old tradition of moving from show to show by rail. This year [2011; RED UNIT], the circus experienced a problem with the location it normally used to park the train while playing in Chicago; therefore, circus personnel were under a time constraint to find a new location. That unfortunate circumstance became an opportunity for Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad...."

A post on the IlliniRail list confirms that this year's train is indeed parked just east of 25th Avenue (aka Rose Street) in IHB's NorPaul Yd. in Melrose Park
