New GE's
Author: tihess

A thread from a couple days ago mentioned new GE's that came into Elkhart. Here they are 2 days ago heading out on 19K. They were sharp looking but besides from the numbers, (1015-1018), they had no visible reporting marks. The prior thread stated they are GECX. There were some words in Spanish low on the long hood that included Cenejon, Columbia , so I would guess they are headed for South America. Anyone know?

Units are destined for Cerrejón Carbones, a Columbian company that transports coal from the Cerrejón Coal Mine to Puerto Bolivar for export. It currently rosters an AC4400CW and four ex-NS B36-7s and an ex-CR B36-7. These units are numbered atop the lone AC4400CW (1014).

8 years with a railroad that's 2/3 GE I have yet to have one go into self-toast mode... Not saying it doesn't happen, we've all seen the evidence. But its not as common as many in the community would like to think.
