Right after work I caught Q219 leaving Stanely yard here in Toledo, OH with the entire TORC roster (last I checked) in tow, TORC 996 & 999. Here's the TORC units while the train was at the north end of the yard and then Q219 departing under a full moon to head to Avon.

Nice photos, are the TROC engines used mainly for yard duty?
The second photo with the moon appears to be illuminating the switch and tracks and lastly the third photo
with the red sky and green signal reminds me of Christmas.

I REALLY like Pics 2 and 3!!! Well done!!!

I believe those TORC units are headed for Cleveland for an 92 day inspection test. I have seen them popping in Selkirk back then in the past.

Not likely these days. Looks like Avon might be getting some of the 92 day inspections once done in Cleveland.

Avon would seem likely here because that's where Q219 goes. It used to be fairly common for the TORC power to go all the way to Cumberland, MD for servicing.

I'll be the odd ball out. Can someone explain the "TORC" engines? Are they basically leasers or what's the story behind them?

Toledo Ore Railroad Co. It's a CSX affiliate that runs the iron-ore dock in Toledo. At least in recent years, CSX has transferred older, hand-me-down locomotives to it. When I moved to Toledo in the mid-1990s it had a pair of ex-Chessie SD35s. Now it has two (or is it three?) SD40s. They also assign some of their own power to work the dock as necessary.

Thank you for your explination; I too had no idea what a "TORC" was.

Pics 2 and 3 are fabulous! As I saw the full moon tonight (er, yesterday evening now..) here in Defiance, I really wanted to go out shooting some, especially as I'm trying to get into more night photography. Alas, too much work to do (which I'm still doing now...). Beautiful again!
