NS 166919 - Steel Coil Flat.

NS 166919 Steel Coil Flat.
Fostoria, Ohio 11-28-2012

I believe these cars are used to
hull steel coils and are 53 feet long.

Not sure what the number series are,
or when they were built. Any info is appreciated.

Coil Steel Car, AAR class: Specialty open top car having fixed sides. AAR type: E231. Maximum gross weight 286,000 pounds, Load Limit 233,700 pounds. Inside length is forty eight feet. Trying to find other information that I will pass along.

Blow up the photo and look into the white bordered black boxes on the right underframe and it will give you the build date.

NS series 166760-166959 (200 cars), built by Alstom (Montreal) in March through May of 1999.

Inside length is 42 feet.
