Eastern Railroad Discussion > CNJ (1071) in West Brownsville, PA.Date: 11/30/12 18:17 CNJ (1071) in West Brownsville, PA. Author: jmbreitigan Today I decided to follow the Mon line from Monongahela, Pa. to West Brownsville to look for suitable photo locations. The day started cloudy and the sun was supposed to come out later in the day so I figured it would be a good time to explore. I finally wound up on the Brownsville Industrial Track south of Brownsville, Pa. just killing time waiting for the sun to break through. I was able to look across the Monongahela river and see the Mon line as it approached West Brownsville. I soon heard the horn of a train working it way northbound on the Mon line and to my surprise 1071 was on point. I took a quick shot and my mind raced to find a spot to catch 1071. Luckily there was a crew change at West Brownsville so I had time to make it to Elco, Pa. and waited for 1071. My hopes of the sun coming out before the train reached Elco did not work out but I did manage a decent shot.
1. N22 with NS #1071 on point headed northbound with 129 loaded coal hoppers from the Bailey mine approaching CP street in West Brownsville, PA. The bridge carries route 40 over the Monongahela river. 2. N22 crosses Forsythe street in Elco, PA. near MP 52. 3. This item is just forward of the DD right before the Forsythe street crossing. Anyone know what it is? I am guessing a hot axle detector. Thanks for looking, John Date: 11/30/12 18:59 Re: CNJ (1071) in West Brownsville, PA. Author: jim6300loco Hi John,
