Ok guys,

This really is train related.

If you are watching college football tomorrow on ESPN look for the railroad hand car on the Way2Saturday segment. You can also watch it here:

This is a very special hand car as it was completed by Mason back in June 2011. We created an extensive history site along with a movie rental page. Through the magic of Google he got a call from the production company who found his web site. They originally wanted to shoot in our backyard, but Mason was able to talk them into shooting it at the Fillmore and Western Railway about 45 minutes from us. This is the only desolate scene they could find on the railroad without orange groves or agricultural fields.

He got another call from an unrelated production company for yet another confirmed rental the week after next. We can't talk about that one yet (or ever) but you may just see the car again. We never thought that he would be able to generate some money in the entertainment business, but it is looking like he wandered into a new side gig. It would be nice to be able to get a few gigs a year for his ever growing collection of rolling stock. Now we are discussing acquiring 75 feet of lighter weight rail so he can offer a complete prop package.

Out of curiosity, what are the details on the "Game Train" at the end of the clip?

We were trying to figure that out too. It is definitely not in Fillmore. It looks somewhere in the South judging by the pine trees. The production crew and actors traveled non-stop across the country to make this series of clips so it could be anywhere. I think the hand car was one of the most fun they had. We took the hand car up a 2% grade from the setoff spot to the location and the actors were commenting that they didn't need to work out that day at the gym.
