Around Orlando yesterday...
Author: DTrainshooter

I had some time to kill before the NFL games began yesterday...

1) Amtrak #91 the "Silver Star" at Glen Rose Road...the crossing where a dump truck was struck last week

2) A recently posted sign...probably since the accident

3) CSX units parked across from entrance to "Rachel's" (a gentleman's club) near Taft Yard

4) CSX #608 a CW60AC and #780...is #608 still rated at 6000 HP?

5) Close up of the cab

6) Close up of the rear...love the covered rear porch on this brute!

In photos I saw the day of the accident, that sign was already there, but apparently unheeded.

7) Some fun with a billboard in the background...the Minions & CSX in the same blue and yellow.

8) Inside Orlando's Amtrak station decorated for the holidays

9) Another interior view

10) View of the front door still reflecting the station's heritage

11) Amtrak #97 the "Silver Meteor" during its stop at Orlando

12) Unusual power today as the "Meteor" departs Orlando

Thanks for looking!

Great close ups! The AC6000s have always impressed me along with the AC4400s (I'm a GE fan) I also like the white roof of the 608, I have not paid close enough attention to the ones I've seen to notice if they have them. Looks like 780's lightning bolt has a case of dyslexia. Guess we can't yell at the model manufacturers too much these days.

A: Hey guys, where did you take your "beans" at today?

B: At Rachel's Gentlemen's Club!

DTrain,

The C60 still has twin exhaust stacks, so it still is 6,000 Hp, unless the derated it via computer software. When CSX/GE re-motored them to 4,400 Hp, they used the FDL16's , the used the same single exhaust stack that GE used on the Dash 8's, Dash 9's, AC4400CW's and C6044AC's.

Regards,
Russ

What a shabby looking station. You would think that Amtrak would at least paint the joint. Instead they are too busy giving the bureaucrats raises with every paycheck. Disgusting.

No, it's been up for a while. You could even see it during local news coverage of the accident. For the various trucks pulling boats in & out of the company that is trackside.

I think you're seeing the "hazmat" material laid down to collect anything leaking from parked motors. They routinely spot them right there.
