Eastern Railroad Discussion > Central of Georgia In SW PennsylvaniaDate: 12/12/12 15:02 Central of Georgia In SW Pennsylvania Author: NSHorseheadSD70 I took a trip over to the Waynesburg, PA area today to see if I could catch the NS 8101 on the Bailey Helper near the mine. I met up with John Breitigan (jmbreitigan) at Time, PA and after an almost 3 hour wait, we were rewarded. The 8101 and 8024 shoved an NS N22 out of the mine northbound.
1. NS N22 with a pair of D9-40CWs leading, is mere feet from the summit and are in run 8. 2. After helping shove the N22, NS 8101 returns to the mine and will eventually shove an N71 when they finish loading. Chris Tokarcik Morgantown, WV Date: 12/12/12 17:07 Re: Central of Georgia In SW Pennsylvania Author: toledopatch Well, that certainly answers which way it's facing, and thus whether it's nose-into the rear of trains it shoves (yes).
Date: 12/12/12 18:05 Re: Central of Georgia In SW Pennsylvania Author: NSHorseheadSD70 The helpers will get onto the train at the loadout then shove through the balloon track and out onto the main. So the helpers rotate after every shove. The 8101 would be trailing on the next shove.

1. NS #8101 pushing at the rear of N-22. 128 cars, 14,000 tons. 2. 8101 dropping back down to the Bailey mine. If you look close you may see a big wreath on the house at the far right. 3. NS #8101 & 8024 at MP 11. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 12/12/12 19:07 by jmbreitigan. You just need the sun and clouds to cooperate to make it all work. Luckily, this time of year at Time, you can shoot trains coming out of the mine in the morning and trains going in in the afternoon, all from the same side of the tracks.

Date: 12/15/12 12:24 Re: Central of Georgia In SW Pennsylvania Author: retnkxe9 Excuse me, but just where the heck is Time, Pennsylvania? I was born in Waynesburg (66 yrs ago), and lived in Washington until 1961. I have never heard of Time, and neither has Google. Just curious....
