Evansville, IN Questions
Author: DR

Hey guys, I have an interview next Tuesday in the Evansville area and if things go good I might be moving down in that area. Wondering what the rail scene is down there and what are the spots to hit.
Thanks in advance
Dane

CSX has a pretty active operation at Evansville.

Evansville Western comes into town pretty much daily (I think it's Mon-Sat) from Mount Vernon, Indiana.

Mt. Vernon is very close and EW seems always active there.

The CSX ex-C&EI main from Chicago is the main attraction. CSX has a major yard there (Howell Yard I believe). Also, the Indiana Southern terminates at Evansville. It cobbled together former NYC and PRR branches to form an Indy-Evansville route. I believe it's a Rail America operation.

I havn't been to E-ville in a decade, but once was on trains into & out of Howell Yard. Main attraction is Rahm, IN with the long approach to the Ohio River Bridge. IIRC public roads skirt the east & west side of the yards.
