Author: Forever-Railfan-45

Greetings everyone. Anybody know if the 8102 is leading the 196 north out of Kentucky bound for Detroit, Michigan? Thank you...

Wonder which way it went to Detroit? Through Fort Wayne or Columbus?

A lot of traffic on the Dayton district today, but I wasn't able to visually see all of it.

196 runs via Fort Wayne.

Yes via Fort Wayne and 8102 is the 3rd of 4 units, not leading.

No loss. Weather's going to be lousy in NW Ohio/SE Mich. on Sunday, too.

Dave, people other than you actually go out on cloudy days and enjoy it. I know it's shocking. ;)

Now as for the units location in the consist, trail=fail

Actually, my first shots of this one were under gray skies, too. It was the first Heritage unit I got -- on its first trip back in April.

But since the weather's lousy, it's less of a shame that it's trailing.

However, I do wish people wouldn't use the word "leading" when the engine in question is not known to be on the point.

Well Patch....how else would you like someone to ask if the unit is on the point or not?

I'm not talking about asking. I'm talking about statements as fact. In this thread, the matter is vague, because Forever asked if a particular thing was true, and the immediate response(s) did not specifically address the lead/trail issue, but it has come up in other threads, too. It's always wise to be as specific as possible. Tell facts as facts, conjecture as conjecture, and use clear language.

To wrap things up, the power was swapped at Fort Wayne and it returned south through Cincinnati this afternoon.
