21Z or 21G just hit a semi truck at Vine St in Alliance, OH. I am on the way to get some pictures, crew said they are OK, both mains blocked.

Update: It was at Union Ave, 21Z, crew is OK as well as truck driver, train is on the rail, trailer took down a light pole and energized the trailer and track #1 causing a track circuit.
Truck was carrying a tank for oil or gas well on a lowboy.

There is a decent sized hump at that crossing. Jeff, I bet the burger hut folks got a good view of the action, luckily the train was going the other way or the restaurant might have been hit.

these crossing accidents and derailments always raise a question with me. Does the railroad have to disclose to customers that their cargo was involved in an accident even if not directly involved? For instance does the owner of the frozen fish or whatever it may be in the last container of the train need to be informed?

The stack cars indicate to me that it is train 21G.

Theres lots of factors reguarding this Accident that some of you may not Know,1 the air ride on the trailer could of broken.2 In this weather Ice could of formed in the fuel or air lines.3 as he was crossing the tracks some one could of stopped or pulled out in front of him.It looks to be company truck and maybe they dont keep it up as they should.So you need to wait on the FACTS before you decide who is at fault....Scoobydoobydoo

Whether it was the driver's fault or not, this could have been a lot worse. Oh my God, a load like that in a direct hit could have derailed the train and wreaked havoc with everything in the vicinity.

I remember an incident where a truck trailer hung up on a humped crossing near New Haven, Indiana. It was a panic to get in touch with the police and the dispatcher to make sure no trains were coming! IIRC, someone put out a flare on both sides of the crossing just in case things didn't get stopped in time.

The K Line and EMP boxes suggest otherwise, unless there is a block of cars on the head end being set out before the train get handed off to BNSF.

That Pierce looks like it's run into a few things as well!

Fire trucks are idiot-driving car magnets. If you've got two fire trucks, at least one of them has been hit or scraped by "lookey-lou's" or DIUs or...! We use our engine on the interstate (and other highways) as a protection device!
