I have included three items which I've scanned. They are all from the Canadian Pacific. I have bigger copies of these scans, I shrunk them down for posting purposes.

#1 - Canadian Pacific Telegraph - 1901

Interesting documents - the location "Rat Portage" referred to in the train order would be today's Kenora in northwestern Ontario (the "RA" in Kenora is derived from "Rat Portage").

There are probably no readers on this list who have ever worked with a 31 order.

Interesting in the use of continental time as early as 1902.

Also, in addressing extras, no use of direction such as "767 East" or "767 south." Those distinctions must have appeared in the rule book at a later date.

Noted the operator "X" the order. I presume the DS was in a hurry to get the order to the inferior train so he had the operator copying for the superior train (I assume 96 was superior) "x" the order.

All of this is great stuff! Got any more?

19R replaced some uses of 31 Order, but 31 remained in use for many years. 19Y for general use.

A 31 order was used to restrict a First Class train and had to be signed for by the Conductor. No handing it up on the fly!

This order was also addressed to an extra.

The "x" I referred to was the operator's "x" given in response to a hurried dispatcher.

There are no train crew signatures on this order.
