Eastern Railroad Discussion > "The wind pushed me...Date: 01/24/14 16:54 "The wind pushed me... Author: Forever-Railfan-45 is what I told my wife after my friend Rich and I ended up in Toledo, Ohio today after starting off in Bellevue. Driving north to Toledo was more precarious than I thought as the wind had drifted one, and even two lanes, closed on a couple of roads. Caught the NS 1071 on a 42G waiting on a crew to head out on the Sandusky District with a loaded grain train. The train had loaded at Sunrise Coop at Clarksfield, Ohio. Second picture is of one of my all time favorite locomotives and that being the SD40T-2 still in Rio Grande colors. Last up is the 64R in Toledo, Ohio at CD 293; she was stopped waiting on a crew as this crew, according to the female dispatcher, had outlawed. Trains were stopped before the causeway, going east and west, over the Sandusky Bay. Anyone have any information of a train being blown over by the tremendous winds today out that way?

Author: Forever-Railfan-45 Went to the other side to get a picture of the 64R with the NS 8101 and while walking back across, the grade crossing at Wenz Road (thanks MDH for that corrrection), the crew tooted the horn and when I looked they turned on the lights for me. Thanks for looking and everyone please stay safe and warm these next few days.

John Date: 01/24/14 18:05 Re: "The wind pushed me... Author: Rob46580 During windy weather NS will usually park a loaded coal train across the bay as a wndblock to prevent the lighter weight intermodals from blowing over, thus making for single track across bay.
