Saw the CEFX 3098 in the gray/white scheme (we call them gray ghosts) in Garrett, IN on train Q508 the other day with a modified paint scheme.

2 horizontal dark blue stripes were applied to the body (the rear engine doors) and the nose had dark blue V stripes. My guess is that due to visibility reasons a change was made. Have there been any accidents with a gray ghost leading the consist?

Anybody have any more details on this change to the gray Alstom units? Any other units been modified?

Its about time they did something about that horrible scheme. It is extremely difficult to see - especially under less than ideal weather conditions. I look forward to seeing the improvements in person...

I like them as are, but it is odd to think they lead. I look forward to seeing the new addition, however.

I think you'll find that all of the grey units up to 3103 are GCFX units, not CEFX.

Right you are TP - 3103 through 3112 are CEFX "gray ghosts".

Shot GCFX 3098 yesterday, Wednesday, in Moline, OH with the blue nose stripes and 2 horizontal blue stripes. Does not take alot to make a marked improvement.

Saw 3084 on CSXT train Q303 a few days ago.
DOOFUS me did not have the scanner on and
missed a great foe-toe opportunity. Hear the wierd horn and it was TOO LATE> :(

The GCFX 3093 the unit in the SDP40 carbody has also been modified with 2 horizontial stripes going down the long hood and wraping around the rear of the hood. Has anyone seen the reporting marks on these units. Have they been changed to CEFX which would explain the change in colors to blue. It has been rumored for a long time that these units would be sold to CEFX.

Add GCFX 3095 to the "modified" list. Saw it today.
